The season is shifting, everyone’s adding things to cart, and suddenly you’re standing in a store (or, more likely, scrolling at 2 am) wondering: What am I even looking for?
That’s where this comes in.

This is the exact mental shopping list I use when I want to stay focused, intentional, and avoid coming home with another white shirt. Again.

1. The Everyday Hero

That one piece that carries the season.
It’s not flashy, but you’ll wear it to death. It should go with most things you already own.
Think: elevated basics — a great pair of trousers, a breathable tee, a luxurious cashmere piece or a jacket you’ll grab 100 times all season.

On my wishlist: the perfect navy jumper — not too thin, not too heavy. Something slouchy enough to feel relaxed but still polished enough to wear with tailored trousers. I want to be able to throw it over a dress, knot it around my waist, or wear it solo on cooler days. Cosy, versatile, and quietly elevated — the kind of piece that works hard without looking like it’s trying. I ordered this one from Zara, but it wasn’t great, so I returned and now I am considering this one from COS.

Ask yourself:

  • What do I always wish it was clean?

  • What’s the first thing I reach for when I have no idea what to wear?

  • What would I happily wear three times a week?

  • Would I actually buy it again if I lost it?

Coat, boots, cashmere jumper, blue shirt, jeans.

Here’s a table you can save on your phone and come back to every time you’re shopping and lose the plot.
Because sometimes all you need is a quiet little reminder of what your wardrobe actually needs — not just what’s shiny and on sale.

2. The Seasonal Shift

One item that makes everything else feel current.
It could be a colour, a silhouette, or a fabric — but it flips your wardrobe into right now.

For me, it’s almost always a jacket or a pair of shoes. These are the pieces that can take even the simplest outfit — jeans and a tee, a plain dress — and instantly give it that now factor. They don’t need to be loud, just intentional. Something with a point of view.

Ask yourself:

  • What one item would instantly make my basics feel new?

  • Is there a fabric, shape or style I keep noticing lately?

  • What would I upgrade if I wanted to refresh my look with one purchase?

  • Which pieces make me feel like I’m not stuck in 2016?

Currently in my imaginary basket: a really good jacket. I’m torn between this blazer-style leather jacket and a suede one.
Let’s be honest — leather is probably going to win. It just feels more me, and it’s far more London-proof on those inevitable rainy days.

Also: I just bought this pair of shoes from Zara — they’re weird in the best way. Just the right amount of unexpectedness to make all my autumn basics feel brand new.

Leather jacket, suede jacket, leopard print bag, black leather mules, slogan t-shirt, polka dot dress.

This is the part where I pretend to be mysterious and put the rest behind a paywall.
If you want the final two wardrobe heroes (and the fun shoes I’m obsessed with), tap the button and come backstage. It will be great to have you! 🥰
